无锡,别名梁溪,简称锡。位于北纬31°7′至32°2′,东经119°33′至120°38′,长江三角洲江湖间走廊部分,江苏省东南部。东邻苏州,距上海128公里;南濒太湖,与浙江省交界;西接常州,去南京183公里;北临长江,与泰州市所辖的靖江市隔江相望。无锡市为江苏省省辖市,
全市总面积为4650平方公里(市区1628.3平方公里,其中建成区面积163.7平方公里),其中山区和丘陵面积为782平方公里,占总面积的16.8%;水面面积769平方公里,占总面积的16.5%。2001年末耕地面积172.56千公顷。
Location & Area
Wuxi, also named Liangxi and
called Xi for short, lies at 31o7′-32o2′N and 119o33′-120o38′E.
It is located in the corridor between rivers and lakes in
the Yangtze Delta in the outheast of Jiangsu Province. With
Suzhou to the east, it is 128 kilometers away from Shanghai.
With Lake Tai in the south, it borders on Zhejiang Province.
With Changzhou to the west, it is 183 kilometers away from
Nanjing. With the Yangtze River to the north, it faces the
city of Jingjiang under the jurisdiction of Taizhou across
the river. Wuxi is a city provincially administered by Jiangsu
Province. Totaling an area of 4,650 sq.km., Wuxi has the
city proper of 1,628.3 sq.km. including a constructed area
of 163.7 sq.km.. Its hilly land and hills cover an area of
782 sq.km., accounting for 16.8% of the total. Its water
area covers 769 sq.km., accounting for 16.5%. Up to the end
of 2001, tillable fields cover 172.56 kilo hectares.
